The Barlow Fire Company was established on February 10,
1931, and is located 7 miles south of Gettysburg. The Barlow Fire Company
protects the Cumberland, and Mt Joy Townships, and the surrounding areas including
parts of the Gettysburg Military Park, and Gettysburg Village Outlets. We
respond to approximately 125 calls per year. Barlow has
recently purchase 2 full sets of Amkus Rescue tools from a department in
Lancaster County to complete our set and to look towards the future. There is a
committee formed and has had a couple meetings to prepare to spec a replacement
for Rescue 22. The Barlow Fire Company also recently purchased 24 acres at the
intersection of Barlow-Greenmount Rd and US 15. The property was purchased as an
investment at this time with no set plans.
Led by Chief David Maring, The Barlow Fire Company currently operates a Saulsbury / Spartan Engine, a KME Engine, a American Fire / International Rescue, and a Ford F350 Service Truck. Station 22 also houses a large amount of cribbing. Pieces ranging for 6x6x2 to 6x6x8. There are over 100 pieces of large cribbing ready for use. The Barlow Fire Company is located at 2005 Taneytown Road in Gettysburg, PA. More information can be found at: http://www.barlowfiredepartment.org/index.html
