The East Berlin "Liberty" Fire Company was established in December of 1896, and is located 13 miles west of York near the Adams / York County line. The East Berlin Fire Company protects the East Berlin Borough, the Washington, Reading, Paradise, Hamilton townships, and the surrounding areas. We respond to approximately 190 Fire and Rescue calls, and 160 Medical calls per year. The East Berlin fire company recently purchased new water rescue gear. In the 2007 East Berlin Memorial Day Parade "Grandma" a 1926 American LaFrance Brockway Torpedo still owned by the department led the pack.
Led by Chief Frank Chronister, The East Berlin Fire Company currently operates two American LaFrance Engines (one equipped with a hydraulic rescue tool), a Ford/New Lexington 1800 Gallon Tanker, a Ford E450 PL Custom Ambulance, and a water rescue boat. The East Berlin Fire Company is located at 101 East Locust Street in East Berlin, PA. More information can be found at: http://www.liberty11.org/
