The Penn Township Volunteer Emergency Service, and Penn Township Department of Fire/Rescue Services was established in 2007 by the consolidation of Parkville Volunteer Fire Company, Friendship Volunteer Fire Company, Penn Township Ambulance Club, and Penn Township SCUBA Team. The volunteer side of the department goes by the name Penn Township Volunteer Emergency Service, and the career side is known as the Penn Township Department of Fire&Rescue Services. Penn Township surrounds the borough Hanover. Penn Township protects the nearly 16,000 Penn Township residence, and the surrounding Areas. Penn Township covers the Hanover Borough for Emergency medical calls. Penn Township responds to approximately 750 Fire and Rescue calls per year, and 4000 Medical Calls. Penn Township is currently in the final stages of construction of there new fire station on Clover lane in Hanover.
The PTDFRS is led by Chief Jan Cromer, and the PTVES is led by Captain Jeremy Parks. Together they currently operate a 2004 Sutphen Engine, a 1993 KME Engine, an 2002 E-One/Saulsbury Heavy Rescue, a 2001 Ford F350 Brush truck, an 2000 E-One Bronto Skylift Aerial Truck, One 2007 MICU, and 3 BLS ambulances '00, '02, '05. The PTDFRS currently employs 12 career firefighters. The Penn Township Emergency Services future location is 204 Clover Lane in Hanover, PA.
