Officers
History The York Springs Fire Co. No. 1 was organized on January 3, 1926 with 51 members. The community already owned a hand-drawn chemical cart which was purchased around 1895; this unit is still owned by the Fire Company. In 1926, YSFC purchased three (3) dozen buckets and two (2) ladders (a 32’ and a 12’).In 1928, the Company purchased a new 1928 Chevrolet pumper. In 1936, we purchased a Reo Speed Wagon with a 400 GPM Luverne pump, which was restored by the Company in 1975. Our present membership numbers approximately 200 men and women. Our Ambulance service was a joint venture started in the early 1950’s by the York Springs Lion Club and our Fire Co. By the late 1950’s, the Ambulance was turned over solely to the Fire Company. Special mention goes to our community owned by the Fire Company and was opened to the public in November 1980. It has a seating capacity of 350 and is used each month for chicken BBQ, banquets, fund raisers and various other events. It is available for rent. This building is an ideal place to hold indoor training. On 1978, our Junior Fire Company was organized. The effort has proved to be a valuable asset to the community and the Company by educating and providing experienced firefighters and EMS personnel.
