December 23, 2007 The Greenmount fire company received a federal grant in the amount of 115,663 to be used for turnout gear and SCBA.
December 20, 2007 The Bendersville Fire Company received a federal grant in the amount of $275,000 for a new Engine/Rescue. They will be replacing Engine 7-1, the 1982 Hahn engine. Bids have been sent out to 9 Manufactures. Check there website www.bendersvillefireco.com for more details as they come available.

December 15, 2007 In December most of the Adams County Fire Companies have elections to determine who will be the officers for the next year. This year these elections bring four new chiefs to Adams County. Ken Kime will serve as the chief of the Gettysburg Fire Department, Mark Fulton will serve as the chief of the Arendtsville Fire Company, Mike Smith will serve as chief of the Biglerville Fire Company, and Walt Wagaman will serve as chief of the Aspers fire Company for 2008. All four have served as Deputy or Assistant Chiefs of there departments in 2007. Congratulations to all the elected officers for 2008.

October 9, 2007 Firefighter Adam Cole from the Buchanan Valley was laid to rest at the St. Ignatius Cemetery in Buchanan Valley. Firefighters were present, and apparatus was on display for services.

September 1, 2007 The Greenmout Fire Company places into service a duty vehicle. A 2002 Ford Explorer donated by Aggreate Ind. in Woodsboro Md. It is equipped with an command board, 1 back board, med bag, AED, 1 ABC ext., set of officers tools, 1 SCBA, 1 additional portable radio, small tool box with misc tools, cones and a hand full of flares. All the officers will be taking turns on an 48 hrs schedule.

August 11, 2007 The 7th Annual ACVESA Convention was held, and The New Oxford Fire Company became the 5 time winners of the Harry L. Moul Award for best overall department. The best appearing over all fire company, in parade line with two or more pieces of in service apparatus was awarded to the Bonneauville Fire Company.

John W. Murren, 89, entered into God's eternal care, Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. He was the Adams County Fire Marshal for 50 years, and a member of all the Fire Companies in Adams County, a member of Adams County Fireman's Association, and the PA State Fireman's Association. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, at Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edgegrove. Relatives and friends will be received Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service to be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of John, to Sacred Heart Basilica Capital Campaign, 30 Basilica Drive, Hanover, PA. 17331, or to your favorite volunteer Fire Company.

May 23, 2007 Lake Meade Fire and Rescue purchases a new boat. An Achilles SG 140 with a 25 HP four stroke Mercury Motor. This boat was financed (in part) by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development. This boat will be known as Boat 26.
